The Almost End of the Dungan Era

Correction: The last day in office for Dungan, Gallucci and Osborn is not 5/31. Village law states that "The term of office of each elective village officer shall commence at the start of the official year following his election" which (the official year) "begins at noon on the first Monday in the month following the date of the general village election." Since election day was May 3rd, the first Monday of the next month is June 5. The new mayor and new trustees will be sworn in at noon on Monday June 5th, the last full day of the outgoing elected officials' terms is June 4th.

From the Village website re: the special meeting on 5/31 (which still looks to be their last meeting):

All I know is that in March when Mayor Dungan returned to his official duties the Village Attorney billed the village government $12,500. that month. That's one-third of his annual retainer and one-quarter of all budgeted money for Attorneys. If you need it broken down even further that's about 20 hours per week for 4 weeks at $150 per hour (I don't know if that's exactly the going rate but I have heard it bandied about as something that Attorneys aspire to be worth).
Wanna bet a dollar that some of that time and money was spent on consultations and research into "summer vacations in Vegas"?

Can you provide a citation for that? I'm curious about something... thanks...

PATHETIC that NOT ONE member of Village Government was present @ the Memorial Day Parade in New Paltz, yesterday!!!

SHAMEFUL behavior by Elected Officials, past & present !!

No excuse for this dis-respect of our Men & Women in our Armed Forces.

NONE !!!

I can understand your anger, bd. Going to war is a political decision (and I use the term "war" loosely, since no Congress has actually declared war as per our Constitution since 1941, which is shameful itself), but honoring the fallen shouldn't be, and when elected officials don't show up it looks like a political statement.

I was covering another parade for the Shawangunk Journal, or I would have attended myself. I never served in the military, and yet each year I find that these remembrances weigh more heavily on me.

I hope you will show up at tonight's village board meeting to share your views directly, bd.

Butch --

I was at an event at Senator Gillibrand's house (well, us and about a thousand of her closest friends). Got back to town just after the parade ended. So it wasn't an intentional slight on anyone.

Dungan destroyed himself.

guess who,,, said...

Never meant you, Jason, also meant as a shot @ Town officials, ( Toni WAS there )
Of course Logan wouldnt dare show his mug, after disgracing himself AND his family, recently,,
Kitty wont even say " Under G-D " when she pledges Allegiance @ Town Board meetings so she wouldnt be there, either,, shameful, in my opinion,,
Dave cant march, of course, but a SHAMEFUL showing or lack of it.
NO EXCUSE ! Disrespectful !!!

Just as a note and not to defend anyones actions but I think some comments should be supported when writing. Dave lewis's health would not allow the walk, although a car could have made possible his health is not the best right now. Janeanne I understand was needed for another issue and did want to attend but was unable to, and I do see her at many other events and meetings. Jeff Logan was working, a family friend saw him at his work that day and I see him at every meeting and spoke to him at New Paltz day, I see him evreywhere and I think he attends what he can. Kitty Brown was also working that day at UNISON for one of the larger fundraisers they have and they do so much for the community.
Not defending anyone just that I dont think its fair to say they lack of attendance was showing disrespect, the lack of attendance can also be for very valid reasons.
