Travel Update

via Town Supervisor Toni Hokanson: Travel ban lifted with a few exceptions. Do NOT drive around barricades, even if you do not see water. Some roads are compromised and some are not yet evaluated. Mandatory evacuations are being lifted on a case by case basis. Recreational use of the Wallkill River is prohibited.

That's great news. I left New Paltz around eight this morning and got back around eleven, encountering the usual steady traffic coming off the Thruway, made a stop at the health food store in the Plaza, and then went down Main to North Front and Huguenot and on home, and I had no idea the travel ban had been lifted! What a relief!

You know how I hate to stir the pot of local administrative stew, but as of this moment the NPPD, on its road closure pdf...

...has a reminder (in red, at the bottom) that the travel ban is still in effect, contradicting Field Marshal Hokanson. Perhaps there's an "internal communication" problem.

Here's an opportunity for Admiral West, Chief of Operations for Carrier Group X, to step in and seek clarity.
